Japanese Maple 'Ryusen'
The Cascading Beauty
The Ryusen Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum 'Ryusen') is a show-stopping specimen that redefines the classic Japanese Maple silhouette. Unlike other weeping varieties that tend to spread horizontally, the Ryusen features a true pendulous growth habit, with branches that cascade straight down like a leafy green waterfall.
Why You’ll Love It:
Unique Structure: Its "weeping willow" effect makes it a perfect architectural focal point for small gardens, entryways, or large decorative containers.
Stunning Foliage: Deeply lobed, bright green leaves provide a lush summer canopy before transitioning into a vibrant display of gold, orange, and fiery red in the autumn.
Versatile Growth: Whether staked to reach new heights or allowed to drape over a stone wall, its form is consistently elegant.
Winter Interest: Even after the leaves drop, the pendulous branching provides a sculptural winter silhouette.
Planting & Care:
Size: This 7G (7 Gallon) specimen is well-established and ready to make an immediate impact.
Exposure: Thrives in full sun to partial shade.
In hotter climates, afternoon shade is recommended to keep the foliage crisp. Soil: Prefers well-drained, acidic soil with consistent moisture.
